Sorry John Lewis but this Spanish Christmas advert is the most moving ever

Image
So it isn’t just the UK companies who like to make us cry in the run up to Christmas. An advert for the Spanish Lottery is taking the internet by storm and it’s emotion factor completely eclipses that of the  Man In The Moon featured in John Lewis’ festive campaign. Over three minutes long, the animation shows a lonely security guard whose life is stuck in a routine that involves minimal human contact. But all of that changes when he sets up a lottery syndicate and finds himself surprised by his colleagues when their numbers come up. While the message of ‘people will flock to you once you’ve won the lottery’ seems to have a lot of flaws,  it’s a tearful watch all the same and managed to give us that glow we’ve come to expect from Yuletide commercials. Sorry John Lewis and Sainsbury’s – you may just have had your crown stolen by Spain this year! source

The Frenchman, known only as Sylvestre, had just ended a call when a terrorist blew himself up metres from where he was stood outside France's national stadium. He claimed his head would have been 'blown to bits' if it wasn't for his mobile which was hit by a piece of shrapnel from the blast. Lamborghini to Introduce Rear Wheel Drive Huracan?

Image
According to Autocar, Lamborghini are planning to introduce a rear-wheel drive variant of the Huracan, much like the Gallardo did with the LP550-2, LP560-2 and the Balboni Edition. The head of Lamborghini, Stephan Winkelmann has previously stated that a RWD version of the Huracan was being looked into.  “We did it with the Gallardo so it might be an option”, he said.  “We are a four-wheel-drive super-sports car manufacturer but why should we not do a rear-drive option?  We need lots of derivatives. Customers expect it and we always need something new to talk about”. The rear-wheel drive Gallardos were cheaper than the all-wheel drive alternative, but this is not likely to be repeated with the Huracan.  It is expected that the Huracan will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show which starts at the end of the month. source

Libyan media have named the man as 43-year-old Rushdi Ageela Omran al-Masouri.  Dressed in an orange jumpsuit, the grey-bearded man can be

Terminal cancer patient granted last wish to see his beloved horse

Image
Frank Keat is visited by his beloved horse, Early Morn, at Bodmin Hospital.   Credit: SWNS A man suffering from terminal cancer was granted his final wish this week to see his beloved horse one last time.  Frank Keat, 80, was able to see his five-year-old horse, Early Morn, before he passed away on Monday. Unfortunately Mr Keat, from Cardinham in Cornwall, was not well enough to visit the stable where Early Morn is kept, so the nurses caring for him at Bodmin Hospital arranged for his horse to be brought to the hospital without him knowing. Frank Keat meeting the Queen at the Royal Cornwall Show in 2000.  Credit: SWNS As Early Morn wasn't able to come into the ward, staff wheeled Mr Keat's bed outside onto a nearby patio.  Nurse Samantha Russell who was involved in the surprise reunion said it was an emotional day for everyone involved.  I can honestly say that this is the most memorable day of my career. The emotion was overwhelming and there wasn't a dry eye on the ward.

Shocking video shows what happens when a woman pretends to be drunk

Image
Staggering around and slurring her words, this woman appears to be somewhat worse for wear. But what happens when she’s approached by men? Well, it’s pretty shocking really. They proposition her, get her to drink more, and try to get intimate with her. One even tries to get her to go to his hotel with him, saying he has a phone charger at the hotel. It was posted online by rehab clinic Centro Europeo Neurosalus which filmed it in Madrid at 5.30pm. The director said: ‘What you are about to see is something more than just a simple social experiment.’ ‘This particular situation poses many questions: “what could happen, for example, on a Friday or Saturday night?”.’ He added that not one single person offered to help the woman.

Woman ‘fights off attempted rapist’ by biting off his tongue

Image
An American woman has been hailed a ‘warrior not a victim’ after she allegedly fought off a teenager trying to rape her by biting off his tongue. The 33-year-old victim, who cannot be named, said she opened her front door in South Carolina to find a stranger standing outside armed with a 13-inch serrated knife on October 16. He forced his way inside, punching her in the face and telling her he would kill her if she didn’t do as she was told, it was reported. She tried to struggle as he picked her up and carried her towards the bedroom, but her real chance to fight back came when he forced himself on her, putting his tongue into her mouth, the Washington Post said. According to a police report, she bit down hard until she heard a snap and realised his tongue had come off in her mouth. As she spat his tongue out on the kitchen floor, Miller allegedly then ran off screaming. The alleged victim fled her home and ran to a nearby petrol station where she called 911. Pol

The Terrifying Moment A Dog Was Attacked By A Pack Of Wolves While Wearing A GoPro

Image
From skydiving to swimming with sharks, we've seen some incredible GoPro footage since the boom of the action camera.  However, when this guy attached one to his dog, he could never have imagined what he'd capture. Tommy Berglund was out hunting moose with his dog Klara when she ran off into the woods.  A little later on, Tommy found her lying severely wounded in the forest.  She had a number of bite marks all over her body and was covered in blood. The wolves stopped the attack when they sensed Tommy coming.  Thankfully, Klara was wearing a protective vest that saved her life. If you're a dog owner, you'll find this pretty hard to watch. Thankfully, a vet was only 20 minutes away and Klara made a full recovery after three days. SOURCE

Cristiano Ronaldo didn't appear to appreciate being stopped by  UEFA's doping officials after Real Madrid's draw with Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night. The Portuguese superstar threw his arms in the air and cried  "siempre yo," translated as "always me," when he was stopped as he walked from the pitch following the 0-0 stalemate.  Maybe it's not all wonder goals and Hollywood movies being CR7... BMW ‘blocks ambulance from getting patient to hospital’ over right of way row

Image
A BMW appeared to block an ambulance trying to take a patient to hospital because the driver was locked in a stand-off with a Tesco delivery van over who had the right of way. Businessman Neil Waugh had been down Tongdean Lane in Brighton, East Sussex when a Tesco delivery van approached from the opposite direction. Both drivers refused to reverse to let the other pass, and were arguing in the road when a paramedic car and ambulance came up behind the BMW under a railway bridge.  Despite pleas to Mr Waugh to move his car and let the ambulance pass, the businessman refuses to do so, and denies blocking its path. ‘You are obstructing a patient getting to hospital,’ one paramedic tells Mr Waugh. ‘I am not,’ My Waugh replies. He adds, gesturing to another driver: The paramedics quickly lose patience with Mr Waugh. One of them tells him ‘get in the car and move’ before the other adds:  ‘move, you fool.’ Mr Waugh has filed a formal complaint to South Ea

EastEnders bosses are now putting TCP in the Queen Vic pumps to stop Danny Dyer drinking

Image
According to the legend that is Danny Dyer, EastEnders bosses have to put the antiseptic TCP in the Queen Vic pumps during filming to stop him knocking back booze on set. Now that’s an extreme measure if ever we’ve heard one! But in his new autobiography, The World According To Danny Dyer, the 38-year-old, who plays Mick Carter in the BBC One soap, admitted  Beeb bosses have taken the step to stop him having cheeky half pints at the end of filming after a long day. ‘I sometimes have a half at the end of the day in The Queen Vic, though they started putting TCP in the pumps to stop me drinking it,’ Dyer revealed. But Dyer assures fans he still gets to have plenty of fun on set, even without the booze, adding: ‘There’s still time for a few laughs.’ But Danny needn’t worry about his booze ban as he’s building his very own Queen Vic in his house. ‘I’m just about to move into my dream house.  It’s got a little annex which I’m turning into The Queen Vic,’ he rev

First case of STD Ebola transmitted after someone recovered

Image
An Ebola survivor has passed on the disease through unprotected sex. The man, who tested negative, transmitted the virus to a female partner, a genetic analysis revealed. The New England Journal of Medicine revealed the Liberian woman  became ill with the disease and died in March. She is the first person known to contract the Ebola virus from sex. Ebola is typically transmitted from direct contact with the blood or other bodily fluids. The disease has been known to linger in patients for some time after they’ve recovered – and survivors have been warned to avoid sexual contact in the weeks after being given the all clear. However, Armand Sprecher, of Doctors Without Borders, said that sexual transmission remains a rare event. source

Prepare for a hellish invasion of daddy-long-legs

Image
Daddy-long-legs are evil insects who want to watch the world burn. And this year we’re preparing for a mass invasion. The hellish crane flies lay their larvae under lawns during winter – but a huge majority is normally wiped out by cold weather. However, because last winter was particularly mild, more have survived than usual, say experts. Entomologist Barry Warrington, from Hull, said: ‘It is definitely a bumper year this year, simply due to the nice weather. ‘It has not been as cold, there is a lot more for them to prey on.  I think last year was a bit colder, so there wasn’t as many daddy long legs, but this year there are more than last. ‘Warmer conditions suit them more, and they are actually out earlier than usual this year. ‘They eat smaller insects and the warm weather is good for them too. ‘People will start to see them even more in the last couple of weeks as they head indoors for warmth, shelter and to find a mate.’ SOURCE
