UK to build £25m Jamaican prison

The UK is to spend £25m on building a prison in Jamaica so that foreign criminals in the UK can be sent home to serve sentences in the Caribbean. The project has been agreed to break the deadlock in negotiations over a prisoner transfer deal between the two countries. More than 600 Jamaican nationals are in UK jails but cannot be deported because of Jamaica's poor prison conditions. Officials say the foreign aid-funded deal could save taxpayers £10m a year when transfers begin in 2020. More than 300 existing offenders are expected to be sent back under the Jamaica prison scheme, which covers those sentenced to at least four years who have 18 months or more left to serve in custody. Currently they cannot be sent to Jamaica because of fears that jail conditions in the country would allow a successful challenge under human rights law. Famous detainee Charles Bronson Pens Extraordinary Letter

The 62-year-old claims that the system is rupturing his human rights while being imprisoned at HMP Wakefield in West Yorkshire.  He is at present serving life for burglary and capture however trusts that he could have been discharged 13 years back.  Bronson , who these days passes by the name Charles Salvador, has just spent a little over four months OUT of prison since being locked up back 1974 – because of his reliable assaults on both jail staff and detainees.  In his letter, he lashes that he shouldn’t be confined a lone unit or a Category A jail, writing:  “I am one of the forgotten IPP (indeterminate sentence for public protection) prisoners, left behind after IPP was deemed unlawful in 2012. Pigeon caught trying to fly drugs into prison

Pigeon discovered attempting to fly Cocaine and Cannabis into prison Initially it was a feline, then an iguana and now a pigeon.  Correct, they've all been discovered attempting to carry drugs into a Costa Rican jail.  On Tuesday protects the La Reforma Penitentia, in San Jose, caught a winged creature that had 14 grams of cocaine and 14 grams of cannabis strapped to it in a little pack.  'They watched the lump on the creature so they caught it and affirmed that it conveyed a sack with zipper – and the drugs were inside…  It appears the bird was prepared for it,' said Prison executive Paul Bertozzi.  The pigeon is evidently being bolted up for 40 days so it doesn't head straight back to the individuals who sent
