Wetherspoons closed after rat ‘ran up trouser leg’ of customer and stole chip
Reece Coombs, from Trowbridge, was out with partner Lucy Wrenn when the rodent reportedly scampered up his leg and stole the chip, the Bath Chronicle reports. As a result customers were ushered out of the Albany Palace pub and the establishment was closed for 30 minutes while staff dealt with the problem. ‘My partner was eating his chips with his meal when a rat ran up his leg, took the chip from his hand and ran off!’ Ms Reece told the Chronicle. ‘All we got was a refund, which was going to be a part-refund for the food we were waiting on, until I saw about the rushed drinks and incomplete, potentially contaminated starter we had.’ Another customer, Jade Whatley, said she was told they had to leave due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’ and only later learnt what exactly those circumstances were. ‘I feel physically sick now,’ she said. ‘I will demand a refund – no wonder they wouldn’t tell us the actual reason.’ A spokesperson for Wetherspoons
