If you lost your nose after your work’s Christmas party, you’d expect to remember it. Not so, for Christopher Watson. He suffered horrific facial injuries while out with workmates in Newcastle and police have even questioned whether a crime has actually taken place. ‘It’s been awful. People still stare at me wherever I go, in the shop, on the bus, I get people looking at me,’ said the 32-year-old from West Boldon, South Tyneside. ‘I just can’t get my head around the fact that this has happened to me and I don’t know why.’ Mr Watson believes part of his nose could have been bitten off in an unprovoked attack on December 22 in the city centre near Grey’s Monument, outside Fenwick. But he was too drunk at the time to remember and despite police viewing CCTV images of the area, no answers have been found.
