Google must pay Canadian woman $2,250 for showing her cleavage in Street View

Image
Google invaded the privacy of a Montreal woman by showing her sitting outside of her house with “part of her breast exposed,” and must pay her compensation, a judge ruled this month. According to a 17-page decision, Maria Pia Grillo suffered shock and embarrassment when she looked up her house using Google Maps’ Street View feature in 2009 and discovered an image that shows her leaning forward and exposing cleavage. The original image, and a subsequent blurred version, can be seen in these Google Street View images published this week by the tabloid, Journal de Montreal (the “after” version is bottom left): Even though the original image, which was snapped by one of Google’s camera-equipped cars, blurred out her face, the rest of the picture provided enough information to identify her. Two years later, Grillo started legal proceedings against Google to “blur” the rest of her, as well as her license plate and address. She also demanded the company pay $45,000 for emotional dama

This Is Why Your iPhone Can “Accept” Or “Decline” Some Calls, But Only “Slide To Answer”

Image
Others Have you ever wondered why your iPhone sometimes receives calls like this… Andre Borges / BuzzFeed …and sometimes like this. Ever wondered WHYYY you can only "decline" certain calls but have to "slide to answer" others? WHY, iPHONE. WHY. WHY ARE YOU SO TEMPERAMENTAL, YOU INFERNAL DEVICE? Ever wanted to decline a call and been driven to madness by the seemingly arbitrary lack of such an option? So here’s the deal; pay close attention. Yep. That’s it. Armed with this knowledge, go forth and live a slightly less baffling life. You’re welcome! It doesn’t matter if you’re receiving a call from an iPhone or Android user. It doesn’t matter what time it is. It doesn’t matter if the contact is saved or not. It’s actually one remarkably simple thing. If your iPhone is locked when you're getting a call, you'll get the slider. But if your phone is unlocked then you get the option to accept or declin

Today, Samsung has announced that it’s acquiring LoopPay

Today, Samsung has announced that it’s acquiring LoopPay, a mobile wallet provider that allows wireless payments to take place on existing magnetic stripe readers.  Source The announcement didn’t disclose the sale price, but said that LoopPay’s founders will join  Samsung’s mobile division to push forward the “next wave of innovation in the digital smart wallet.” Samsung had previously partnered with LoopPay but says the acquisition will help take it to the “next level” and would mean its solution is more widely accepted than competing services due to the technology working with existing point-of-sale products.  LoopPay touts 10 million merchants using its platform right now and allows you to add existing credit cards without making any changes.  Recode reported previously that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 will featured a Samsung-developed payment solution.  Apple Pay,  Samsung’s biggest competitors in the mobile space, recently announced that it already owns 1.7

Robot Fights Kittens In Epic Battle For Control Of The Room

While many argued that Transformers would have been markedly improved with the addition of kittens, Michael Bay sadly hadn't seen this particular piece of evidence and as such, we're now stuck with the kitten-less films we have today.  Hopefully when Bay reboots the series we'll be able to enjoy more kittens in our giant robot films because as has become abundantly clear, the addition of kittens would in turn improve the script (by replacing it with 'meow' sounds) and increase the fan base (it's widely accepted that kittens are nature's way of saying 'AWWWW').  Michael Bay if you're reading this, essentially what we're saying is: robots and kittens, they just work.
