7 really surprising health benefits from smoking cannabis

Image
Anti-drug activists think that a few puffs on a joint will turn you into a red-eyed, unemployed psychopath – probably for life. But is marijuana actually that bad for you? With several American states having decriminalised the herb for personal use, scientists have suddenly had the chance to see what cannabis actually does on a mass scale. And guess what? Cannabis actually has some VERY surprising health benefits.  Here’s a few. Smoking weed makes you thinner – or at least less likely to be obese You might not think it after you’ve watched a munchie-struck stoner devour an entire KFC family bucket in one go, but dope smokers are less likely to be obese. A study in the journal Obesity found that regular weed smokers are less likely to be obese than non-smokers. The researchers from Conference of Quebec University Health Centers looked at 700 adults aged 18-74 – and found that cannabis users tend to have low body mass index scores (often taken as a sign of go

Man pleads insanity to killing wife after he ate marijuana sweet

Image
A man accused of eating marijuana-infused candy he bought at a legal pot shop and then killing his wife has changed his plea to not guilty by reason of insanity. Richard Kirk, 49, is charged with first-degree murder after his wife, Kristine, 44, was shot dead in April 2014. His legal team have suggested that Kirk was so impaired by the weed-infused ‘Karma Kandy Orange Ginger’ that he may not have intended to kill her. The shooting stoked concerns about the effects of the marijuana snacks, which have become popular since Denver legalised recreational marijuana stores. Just before she was shot, Kristine Kirk told 911 dispatchers that her husband was acting more drunk than violent, crawling through a bedroom window and cutting his legs on broken glass. Prosecutors maintain he had the sense to remember the code to a locked gun safe and press the weapon to his wife’s head. Kirk pleaded not guilty in March. He has since recruited a new attorney, who has not

This man’s job is to smoke weed and write reviews about it

Image
It might be the best employment on the planet, in the event that you like being completely blitzed throughout the day.  Jake Browne, 32, composes week by week weed "surveys" for the Denver Post, where he reviews a percentage of the brain bendingly solid strains of dope, for example, Red Headed Stranger, Afghan Haze and Bio-Diesel which were as of late legitimized in the state.  Browne goes into one of Colorado's numerous new legitimate weed shops, starts up, and reviews how the grass makes him feel.  Even better, he thinks of them up in the style of opulent wine commentators.  'What's strikingly truant are the chocolate notes, rather its even more a stale espresso you'd get from a Starbucks container disposed of to a traveler side auto floor. …  It's a Christmas tree, however stripped of the bulbous trimmings,' he composed, potentially while still off his gourd.  Browne told the Washington Post, 'Generally consistently I go t

Cannabuisness is Booming.

Specialists have assessed that the maryjane business could be worth $13.4billion by 2020.  An aggregate of 23 US states have set up therapeutic pot programs – with a number sanctioning it for recreational utilization.  Nonetheless, it is still banned according to the national government.  Yet, specialists at IBISWorld accept the 'developing acknowledgement' of weed will bring about deals in the billions.  Dmitry Diment, of IBISWorld, said in an announcement: 'The developing acknowledgement of medicinal maryjane is giving cultivators and financial specialists remarkable open doors.  'There has been no lack of interest lately, as the business has profited from expanded acknowledgement of the authenticity of medicinal cannabis items

Entire neighbourhood get high after police burn 3.3 tonnes of cannabis

An entire neighbourhood accidentally got high after police burned 3.3 tonnes of seized cannabis.  Officers in West Jakarta, Indonesia, sparked the pile of drugs on Wednesday. The smoke spread to nearby homes where locals suffered dizziness and headaches, reports asiaone.com. Police wore masks but those without succumbed to the powerful marijuana fumes. Nearly two kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and more than 2,500 ecstasy pills were also destroyed – but not with fire.

Police bust cannabis farm after noticing snow quickly melting on the roof

Image
If Walter White taught us anything, it’s that a massive drug producing operation is difficult to hide. However rather than Mexican gangs or a brother-in-law police detective, these cannabis farmers were recently rumbled by the weather. Police officers were alerted to the house in the Netherlands after neighbours noticed the snow on the roof had melted far quicker than anywhere else on the street. After raiding the building they found several lamps used to grow the illegal plants heating the roof of the building up, melting the snow. This method of catching out crooks who grow drugs has become very common amongst police in the country, and they have even released images, such as the one above, letting citizens know what to look for if they suspect any of their neighbours of growing cannabis, and asking them to tweet the police if they see any suspicious roofs. However doing so has led to people becoming concerned that homes with sauna’s or poor insulation could be lead to p

Inmate dies after having crack pipe removed from vagina

An inmate died after having a crack pipe removed from her vagina. April Rollison was arrested on drug charges earlier this month in Polk County, Florida, US. But during a body scan at Polk County Jail deputies spotted two items inside the 31-year-old’s vagina. She was taken to hospital. Officers believe she removed the crack while no-one was around and ingested the drugs. Medical staff took out the crack pipe. Her condition deteriorated when she was taken back to her cell and died on Monday.

Scotland To Trial Cannabis Based Medicine For Children

Image
Epidiolex is a treatment based on cannabidiol (CBD), which is a non-psychoactive compound found in the cannabis plant. In previous cases reported in the US, it has been successfully used to treat epilepsy and experts are hoping that it will also help children in Scotland with seizures they cannot control. CBD oil is already available as a nutritional supplemenet, but there could be a much more useful advantage to the substance on the horizon. Many children with serious forms of epilepsy do not respond to the medications that we currently have available. We need new means of treating these conditions so that we can give back some quality of life to these children and their families. Dr Richard Chin, director of the Muir Maxwell Epilepsy Centre Some patients with Dravet syndrome, a rare form of epilepsy, will be given Epidolex, while others will be administered a placebo to measure the effects of the new medicine. Depending on the success of the trials, this could be the start o

Bob Marley’s family launches ‘world’s first’ global cannabis brand

Image
The family of reggae legend  Bob Marley are to launch the world’s first global brand of cannabis. The ‘Marley Natural’ range will include lotions, creams and other accessories infused with the plant, and will be sold in the US before being marketed worldwide next year. The brand is being developed with US firm Privateer Holdings, who credit Marley with helping to decriminalise marijuana use and distribution. ‘[He is] someone who, in many ways, helped start the movement to end cannabis prohibition 50 years ago,’ said chief executive Brendan Kennedy. It was just a natural fit between Bob Marley and this product. ‘You know if you were to look for the most famous human being who ever walked the face of the earth related to cannabis, it would be Bob Marley.’ Marley, who died in 1981, smoked marijuana as part of Rastafarian faith and supported the widespread legalisation of the plant. His daughter Cedella said her father ‘would be so happy to see people unde
