Bob Marley’s family launches ‘world’s first’ global cannabis brand
The family of reggae legend Bob Marley are to launch the world’s first global brand of cannabis.
The ‘Marley Natural’ range will include lotions, creams and other accessories infused with the plant, and will be sold in the US before being marketed worldwide next year.
The brand is being developed with US firm Privateer Holdings, who credit Marley with helping to decriminalise marijuana use and distribution.
‘[He is] someone who, in many ways, helped start the movement to end cannabis prohibition 50 years ago,’ said chief executive Brendan Kennedy.
It was just a natural fit between Bob Marley and this product.
‘You know if you were to look for the most famous human being who ever walked the face of the earth related to cannabis, it would be Bob Marley.’
Marley, who died in 1981, smoked marijuana as part of Rastafarian faith and supported the widespread legalisation of the plant.
His daughter Cedella said her father ‘would be so happy to see people understanding the healing power of the herb.’
