Teenager shoots himself dead while taking a selfie with a gun

A teenager has died after accidentally shooting himself while trying to take a selfie.

The young father was reportedly posing with a gun in his bedroom when it went off, striking him fatally.

Friends and family gathered around the home of Deleon Alonso Smith, 19, in Texas following the accident.


His cousin told police Deleon found the gun on Tuesday before taking the ill-fated photos.


Deleon, who has two children, was due to start college this week.


His uncle said: ‘This is the worst time of my life’.
