A student was kidnapped, threatened with having his penis cut off, and even stabbed in the buttocks, a court has heard.
Qasim Ahmed, 21, became the victim of the horrific attack after the family of his girlfriend, 19-year-old Aqsa Chaudry, found out about their secret relationship and did not approve of it.
Aqsa’s brother, Hamzah Chaudry, along with three others including her father forced Mr Ahmed into a car where they punched and kicked him before driving him from Watford to a field in Northamptonshire.
While there the assailants, who were armed a machete, stripped Mr Ahmed’s pants off, however he was able to make his escape.
The student, who was fearing for his life, ran for an hour-and-a-half before finding a secluded house and calling the police.
The court heard how Hamzah confronted Mr Ahmed in Watford before bundling him into the car, telling him: ‘You’re not getting out of Watford, you’re coming with me. This is my town, I know everyone. There’s not a chance you’re going to get out.’
Arfan Shah and Yaser Ahmed, who were not related to the victim, were then called in by the family to act as ‘heavies’ during the kidnapping and assault.
Mr Ahmed told the court that one of the group ‘told me to open my mouth and put a knife on my tongue and tried to cut it but it was a blunt knife’.
Hamzah Chaudry pleaded guilty to kidnap and was jailed for 5 years 9 months. Shah, of Oxhey, Watford was convicted of kidnap and received a 9 year custodial sentence with a further 5 years extended sentence.
Aqsa’s father Khalid Chaudry pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm and was sentenced to a 12 month community order with conditions that he carries out 120 hours’ unpaid work and undergoes 12 months’ supervision.
Sentencing them, Judge Stephen Warner said: ‘Precisely what would have happened had he not made good his escape we will never know. He had very good reason to fear for his life.’
