This baby echidna puggle was left to fend for itself after slipping out of its mothers pouch.

Thankfully though, the adorable mammal was found at Anna Bay in Australia and is now being cared for at Sydney’s Taronga Zoo.

The vet responsible for nursing the animal explained how she brought it back to health.

She said: ‘It is quite possible that it just fell out of mum’s pouch because it would still be in there at that time.

‘When they get a bit older, maybe ten or 15 days older, they are actually left in a borough and mum only comes back every couple of days to feed the puggle.

‘So at the moment I only have to feed this one every two days. It just sucks milk out of my hand because the mother doesn’t have any teats, she just has milk patches so her baby will just suck the milk off those patches.’
